Verity Di Mascio is a Senior Lecturer and Module Leader at London Metropolitan University’s School of Social Sciences and Professions, specializing in mental health education. She leads modules such as Psychology of Mental Health MSc, Addictions and Mental Health MSc, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health MSc. Her teaching focuses on Psychosis CBT, Mental Health Law, and specialized clinical issues. With over 25 years in mental health, her career spans rehabilitation, in-patient care, outreach, corporate mental health, and research.
Research interests include postnatal depression, mental health legal frameworks, and cross-cultural mental health experiences. She has supervised four doctorates on topics such as psychiatric nurses’ therapeutic relationships, NHS peer support workers, Nigerian mothers’ postnatal depression, and Borderline Personality Disorder perceptions. She has also examined four doctorates addressing male problem gamblers, voice-hearing experiences, working-class therapy in IAPT settings, and autistic individuals’ sensory emotional experiences.
Publications highlight her work on postnatal depression cultural dynamics, mental health detention practices under the Mental Health Act 1983, and recovery factors in postnatal depression.
