Vera Neves is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon (FMUL) and an Assistant Researcher at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM).
Education:
- PhD in Bionanotechnology, University of Surrey, UK (Marie Curie fellowship)
Research Interests: Dr. Neves develops strategies for delivering therapeutic molecules to the central nervous system (CNS). Her work focuses on peptides that cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) for treating Alzheimer's disease and brain metastases from breast cancer. She also investigates modified monoclonal antibodies to improve brain penetration for diagnosis and therapy.

Advising and Grants: Dr. Neves has supervised five master's and three doctoral theses. Her research is funded through collaborations with groups in Portugal, Spain, Hungary, and the USA.
Laboratory: Her lab at iMM focuses on CNS drug delivery, particularly for Alzheimer's disease and brain cancer metastasis.
