Recent publications examine the temporal dimensions of chronic illness, self-tracking technologies in patient advocacy, and ancient DNA's political implications. Oikkonen serves on editorial boards and organizes events on health and biomedical topics.
Her work combines feminist theory with STS methods to analyze how technoscientific developments reshape understandings of bodies, risk, and belonging. Current projects investigate intersections between digital health, chronic disease management, and vaccine communication.
