Venka Purushothaman

Dr. Venka Purushothaman is a distinguished academic, art writer, and cultural leader currently serving as Deputy President & Provost at LASALLE College of the Arts. His work focuses on practice-led arts education, cultural policy, and cross-cultural design, with a strong emphasis on Southeast Asian contexts.

He earned a PhD in Cultural Policy & Asian Cultural Studies from the University of Melbourne, an MA in Shakespeare & Postcolonial Studies from York University, Toronto, and a BA Hons in English Literature & Mass Communication from York University.

• Research Interests: Cultural policy, contemporary art in South/Southeast Asia, festival cultures, arts higher education reform, and transnational cultural networks.
• Publications: Authored award-winning monographs on cultural policy and art, including The Art of Sukumar Bose (2013) and Making Visible the Invisible (2007).
