Sunitha Janamohanan

Sunitha Janamohanan is a Lecturer in Arts Management at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, with over two decades of professional experience across Southeast Asian arts sectors since 1999. Her career spans visual/performing arts, literature, film, design, animation, music, and heritage institutions including the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, British Council Malaysia, and George Town World Heritage Inc.

Research Interests: Sunitha investigates community-engaged arts practice, localized Southeast Asian arts management models, and intersections of social practice with labour dynamics, organisational behaviour, and cultural leadership. Her work critically examines how creative practitioners navigate policy frameworks and economic constraints within regional contexts, emphasizing grassroots initiatives and alternative heritage narratives.

Publication Trends: Her scholarship reveals consistent focus on Southeast Asia's cultural ecosystems, analyzing financial environments for creative industries (2021 UNESCO study), community museums as counter-hegemonic heritage spaces (2020), and cultural activism strategies (2019). Her writing bridges academic theory with field experience, particularly in biennale critiques (2017) and policy implementation challenges.

ANCER and Heritage Leadership: As coordinator of ANCER (Asia-Pacific Network of Cultural Education and Research), she convenes regional labs and conferences.
