Veera Juntunen, holding a Master of Science degree, is a Doctoral Researcher at the Nano and Molecular Systems Research Unit within the Faculty of Science at the University of Oulu. Her work focuses on developing photocatalytic films and devices for solar hydrogen production, aiming to create a prototype reactor that generates hydrogen from water using only solar radiation. She actively contributes to the UTAH2 project, which investigates local hydrogen production for industrial and heavy transport applications.
Her research centers on Photocatalysis and Solar Hydrogen Production, with strong emphasis on Renewable Energy and Nanotechnology. She addresses variable energy production challenges by developing hydrogen as a storable energy carrier, targeting decarbonization of industrial processes and heavy transport through sunlight-driven water splitting technologies.
Veera supervises students and participates in science popularization, teaching, and the Climate University network. Her research is funded through the UTAH2 project, which supports practical hydrogen production solutions for real-world applications.
She operates within the Nano and Molecular Systems Research Unit and collaborates with the UTAH2 project team to advance hydrogen reactor development and implementation strategies.
