Vasso Kindi

Professor Vasso Kindi is a leading scholar in Philosophy of Science and History of Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds the position of Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science. Her research focuses on Thomas Kuhn’s work, Wittgenstein’s philosophy, philosophy of history, ethics, and interdisciplinary connections between science and humanities. She earned her PhD in Philosophy and History of Science from the National Technical University of Athens (1991) and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Athens (1975-81).

Her academic contributions include over 70 publications, including books such as Philosophy of History (2021) and articles on Kuhn’s paradigms, Wittgenstein’s language philosophy, and ethical issues in science. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of International Studies in the Philosophy of Science, and holds roles in national and international bodies like the European Research Council and the Council of Europe Platform on Ethics. She is also a founding member of the Hellenic Society of University Women and contributes to public discourse on academic policy and university reform through media engagements.

Her research interests span conceptual change in science, the relationship between history and philosophy of science, and ethical dimensions of scientific practice. She regularly participates in global conferences, organizes symposia on topics like Wittgenstein’s legacy and the philosophy of history, and advocates for interdisciplinary dialogue in education and research.
