Vasso Ioannidou is a Professor of Finance at Bayes Business School, part of City St George's, University of London, and a research fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). She previously held professorial roles at Lancaster University (2013–2021) and Tilburg University (2002–2013). Her research focuses on banking, corporate finance, monetary economics, and financial regulation, with publications in top-tier journals like the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics. She actively contributes to policy discussions through roles such as Associate Editor of the Journal of Banking and Finance, and advisor to the Financial Stability Board (FSB) and European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB).
Dr. Ioannidou earned her PhD in Economics from Boston College (2001). Her work explores topics including central bank profitability, collateral dynamics in lending markets, and the impact of financial regulations on bank behavior. She has advised central banks and policy institutions globally, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to systemic risk and financial stability.
Her research highlights include analyzing the effects of tax reforms on bank lending patience, the consequences of deposit insurance on market discipline, and cross-country comparisons of legal frameworks impacting collateral recovery. She frequently engages with international conferences like the American Finance Association (AFA) and European Financial Management Association (EFMA).
