Luc Laeven is the Director-General of the Research Department at the European Central Bank (ECB) and a Professor of Finance at Tilburg University. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Amsterdam (2001) and has held roles at the IMF, World Bank, and ABN Amro Bank. His research focuses on banking, international finance, monetary policy, and systemic risk, with notable publications in top journals like the American Economic Review and Review of Financial Studies.
