Vasilios Vlachos

Vasilios Vlachos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Thessaly. He holds a degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, an MSc in Integrated Hardware and Software Systems from the University of Patras, and a PhD from the Athens University of Economics' Department of Administrative Science and Technology.

His research focuses on cybersecurity, financial technology, and distributed systems. He collaborates with institutions like the Diophantus Institute of Computer Technology & Publishing (DIOCP) and the University of Patras on national and EU research programs. He is a member of multiple professional boards, including the Open Technology Organization (OTO), Hellenic Association of Information and Communications Engineers (EIMPEE), and OWASP Greece. He has advised the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s Digital Security Action Team (DART) and serves on technical committees in Greece.

With over 40 academic publications, his work spans electronic transaction security, internet privacy, and free software. He contributes to academic infrastructure through roles in university departments and research labs.
