Vasileios Vervatis

Vasileios Vervatis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics, Section of Environmental Physics-Meteorology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. Previously, he served as adjunct faculty at the School of Engineering, University of Western Macedonia (2018). His research focuses on ocean digital twins and coastal/regional forecasting using coupled models and data assimilation techniques.

Education: BSc in Physics (NKUA, 2002), MSc in Environmental Physics (NKUA, 2004), PhD in Physical Oceanography (NKUA, 2012). Postdoctoral fellowships included CNRS (2013-2015) and IKY (2016-2018).

Research interests span climate variability, ensemble-based stochastic methods, and environmental physics applications. He has co-supervised 6 MSc theses and contributed to over 20 projects, leading 4 as Principal Investigator (including EU HORIZON and Copernicus Marine Service projects). He serves on the Editorial Board of Copernicus journals and has reviewed for 20+ journals and EU proposals.
