Elissavet Bossioli

Elissavet Bossioli is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics, Section of Environmental Physics-Meteorology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She holds a B.Sc. in Physics (1993), M.Sc. in Environmental Physics (1996), and Ph.D. in Environmental Physics and Meteorology (2007) from the University of Athens. Her research focuses on Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry, Radiation-Cloud-Aerosol interactions, and mesoscale atmospheric models coupled with chemistry. She has contributed to over 31 international journal articles, 37 conference proceedings, and 34 technical reports.

Dr. Bossioli has been involved in 21 national and European Union research projects since 1996. She served as the National Representative of the COST Action ES0602 (2008-2011) on Chemical Weather Forecasting. Her work emphasizes air quality modeling, aerosol dynamics, and climate interactions, particularly in the Mediterranean and Arctic regions. She has expertise in models like WRF-Chem and GEOS-CHEM, focusing on pollution transport, emission reduction strategies, and cloud-aerosol interactions.

Notable contributions include studies on aerosol absorption in the Aegean Sea, extreme Arctic warm-air advection effects, and the role of secondary ice processes in cloud transitions. Her research integrates field campaigns (e.g., AEGEAN-GAME) with advanced modeling to address environmental challenges.
