Dr. Vanessa Silva e Silva is an Assistant Professor in the Nursing department at Brock University, specializing in organ donation and transplantation research. She leads the 'Improve a Culture of Donation' theme under the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP) and chairs the CDTRP Allied Research in Donation and Transplantation Working Group. Her clinical expertise spans community health, critical care, and organ donation coordination, with a focus on improving donation processes, workforce well-being, and public awareness.
Research Interests: Organ donation coordinator experience, quality improvement in donation processes, equity in transplantation, social network analysis of donation systems, and public education campaigns. She is also exploring ethical challenges like organ donation following Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).
Professional Affiliations: Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS), Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP), Canadian Society of Transplantation (CST).
