Vanessa Enriquez

Vanessa Enriquez is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at Macquarie University, Australia. Previously, she held academic positions at the University of Auckland (2005–2022) and the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (2022–2023). Her research focuses on translator education, translation technologies, and AI applications in translation. She has supervised numerous PhD and master’s students and received prestigious awards, including the University of Auckland’s Teaching Excellence Award and Research Awards in 2015 and 2018.

Education: PhD in Translation Studies (Universitat Ramon Llull, 2011), MA in Translation and Intercultural Studies (Universitat Rovira i Virgili, 2005), and BA in Translation and Interpreting Studies (Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio, 2000).

Research interests include curriculum development for translators, innovative teaching methodologies, and the ethical implications of AI in healthcare translation. Her recent work explores web search behaviors in translation trainees and the integration of GPT-4 in terminology testing. She has published widely on translation technology integration and has served on editorial boards of journals such as The Interpreter and Translator Trainer and International Journal of Language, Translation, and Intercultural Communication.

Awards and Grants: Leveraged projects such as the 2025 initiative on AI literacy training for NAATI-certified professionals. She has led workshops at institutions like the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo and The Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
