Vanessa Barolsky is a Research Fellow at Deakin University's Alfred Deakin Institute. Her interdisciplinary research examines social conflict transformation through truth-telling, decoloniality and reconciliation frameworks. With experience at the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, she brings practical insight to transitional justice scholarship.
Research Interests: Barolsky investigates:
- Decolonial approaches to truth-telling
- Social cohesion in post-conflict societies
- Intersections of violence, justice and identity
- Community-based reconciliation processes
Projects: Leads 'Decolonising Truth Globally' initiative and directs research on colonial legacies in Australian reconciliation.
Awards: Recognized through Rockefeller Foundation and Oppenheimer Memorial Trust awards.
