Vanda Babič

Vanda Babič is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Slavic Studies within the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. As a lecturer in Old Church Slavonic, she teaches courses across Comparative Slavic Linguistics, Russian Studies, and South Slavic Studies programs, offering students a comprehensive understanding of the grammatical structure of the first Slavic literary language. Her office hours are held on Tuesdays from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM in cabinet 202.

Her research centers on the East Slavic and Croatian redactions of Church Slavonic, focusing on interlingual contacts and influences such as the East Slavicization of Croatian Glagolitic books during the 17th and 18th centuries. She is also dedicated to documenting and classifying Glagolitic and Cyrillic traditions in Slovenia through manuscript and printed materials from local libraries and archives.

Her work extends to textual studies and paleography, particularly in the context of Old Church Slavonic. Her teaching includes subjects like Comparative Syntax of Slavic Languages, Seminar in Cyrillic Script, and advanced verb morphology courses, reflecting her expertise in Slavic linguistic structures.
