Valerie Pomeroy

Valerie Pomeroy is a Professor at the University of East Anglia’s School of Health Sciences, specializing in neurorehabilitation. She holds leadership roles in the Norwich Institute for Healthy Aging and Lifespan Health. With a PhD from the University of Southampton, her career includes roles as Chair in Rehabilitation for Older People at St George’s University of London (2002–2007) and Chair in Neurorehabilitation at UEA since 2007. Her research focuses on personalized neurorehabilitation, stroke recovery mechanisms, and movement control, with projects like SWIFT Cast and FESTIVALS. She leads interdisciplinary studies on therapy efficacy, biomechanics, and neurophysiology. Collaborations span stroke rehabilitation, telerehabilitation, and neurological outcome standardization. She is an Associate Editor of Physiotherapy and contributes to policy through national reports.

Education: PhD (University of Southampton), BA, GradDipPhys, FCSP. Professional memberships include the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology and the Society for Research in Rehabilitation.

Research Interests: Personalized neurorehabilitation, stroke recovery, movement control mechanisms, and translational therapies. Current projects investigate telerehabilitation efficacy, cranioplasty outcomes, and spatial neglect therapies. Over 100 publications and 27 active/completed projects highlight her contributions to stroke and neurological rehabilitation.
