Valerie Helgren-Lempesis

Valerie Helgren-Lempesis, EdD, is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator for the Master's programs in Early Childhood Education and Curriculum at the Department of Teacher Education, California State University, East Bay. She has held various leadership roles, including Graduate Coordinator of MS in Education Programs (2004–present) and Honors Program Coordinator (1999–2002). Her academic journey includes roles as a CSU Chancellor's Teacher Preparation Scholar (1998–1999) and Coordinator of the University Freshman Program (1995–1997).

Dr. Helgren-Lempesis holds an EdD in Reading & Varying Exceptionalities from the University of Miami (1984), an M.Ed. in Reading Clinician (1978), and a B.S. in Education from Barry University (1977).

Her professional focus centers on curriculum development, early childhood education, and teacher preparation. She has contributed to academic governance through service roles and has received recognition for her contributions to teacher education initiatives.
