Valerie Frazier

Valerie Frazier is an Associate Professor at the College of Charleston, where she teaches composition, American literature, African American literature, and ethnic literatures. She also serves as Director of the 1967 Legacy Program.

Research Focus:Valerie Frazier specializes in contemporary African American literature, postcolonial studies, and women’s literature. Her current book project examines the critical reception of Gwendolyn Brooks, a pivotal figure in 20th-century African American poetry.
