Valerie Edwards is a Teaching Professor and Preceptor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's School of Information Studies. Retired from active classroom teaching, she previously served as HS IMC Director in the Monona Grove School District and District Library Teacher Leader for Madison Metropolitan School District. She holds national certifications in education and conflict mediation, and currently serves on AASL’s Bylaws and Organization Committee.
Her professional experience includes decades of leadership roles in the Wisconsin Educational Media & Technology Association (WEMTA) and American Association of School Librarians (AASL), including Division Councilor positions. She is certified as a Conflict Mediator through Madison Area Business Consultants.
Research interests focus on school library management, conflict resolution in educational settings, and professional development for educators. Recent publications emphasize library preparedness and team dynamics in educational institutions. She reviews business books for School Library Connection and actively engages in professional presentations nationwide.
Valerie’s work bridges practical leadership and theoretical frameworks, with a focus on empowering educational teams through structured conflict management and collaborative strategies. She maintains active involvement in professional organizations to advance library science and educational practices.
