Kay Benning is a Lecturer and Preceptor at the School of Information Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). She concurrently serves as Director of Library Services for Elmbrook Schools and as a district representative on the Brookfield Public Library Board of Trustees. Her professional experience includes roles as a school librarian at both elementary and secondary levels, along with classroom teaching in diverse settings such as Medford, WI, Frankfurt, Germany, and Milwaukee Public Schools' German Immersion School.
- Education: BS in Elementary Education (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire), MLIS & School Library Media Certification (UWM), and enrollment in the Wisconsin Idea Executive Ph.D. Cohort in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis (UW-Madison).
Her research interests focus on leveraging digital platforms for personalized learning, library resource management, and community engagement in education. Recent publications explore pandemic-driven shifts in ebook/audiobook usage and strategies for effective digital reading platforms in schools. She has presented on family engagement initiatives like the FACEBook program and contributed to policy discussions on school trust funds through legislative testimony.
