Valeria Merlo

Valeria Merlo serves as Professor of Economics at the University of Tübingen within the School of Business and Economics and Department of Economics, having joined as a full professor in 2016 after postdoctoral work at ETH Zurich.

Her educational background includes an undergraduate degree from the University of Buenos Aires and Master/PhD degrees from LMU Munich.

Her research centers on how taxation policies and international agreements shape corporate behavior, examining multinational firms' financial, investment, and location decisions through applied econometrics. This work critically assesses policy impacts on global economic activity allocation.

Award recognition includes her CESifo Research Fellowship. She also serves as Co-Editor of the German Economic Review and participates in the German Economic Association's International Economics and Public Economics Committees.

Merlo co-founded the Research School of International Taxation at Tübingen, collaborating across the School of Business and Economics to advance interdisciplinary tax research.
