Alfons Weichenrieder

Prof. Alfons Weichenrieder is a full professor of Economics and Public Finance at Goethe-University Frankfurt and serves as a research-oriented guest professor at the WU Research Institute of International Taxation. He earned his doctorate in economics in 1995 from the University of Munich under Hans-Werner Sinn. Prior to joining Goethe University in 2002, he held academic positions at the University of Munich, Princeton University, and the University of Vienna.

His research focuses on international business taxation, emphasizing the interplay between institutional rules and economic outcomes. Specific recent projects include studies on international withholding taxes, tax havens, tax treatment of R&D, and optimal personal taxes.
