Valentine EUGÈNE is a temporary teaching and research assistant (ATER) at Université d'Artois, affiliated with the UFR Letters and Arts. Her research focuses on 'marginal' speech in the Middle Ages, the confrontation of discourses, and the relationship between vernacular texts and religious/social norms. She explores themes like blasphemy, sacrilege, and the interplay between theology, preaching, and literature.

Her research interests span Medieval Literature, Historical Linguistics, Religious Discourse, and Gender Studies. She analyzes narrative works from the 12th–13th centuries, including Roman de Renart, Roman de Silence, and Mélion, examining stylistic, theological, and sociocultural dimensions.
Valentine’s publications address topics such as discourse confrontation, blasphemy in fabliaux, and gender identity in medieval texts. She co-organizes academic events like the Blasphème seminar (2023) and participates in conferences analyzing medieval literature, gender, and the relationship between text and image.
Since 2019, she has taught courses on medieval literature, language history, and literary analysis at Sorbonne Université (2019–2022), Nanterre Université (2023), and Université d'Artois (2023–2024). She is affiliated with the Texts and Cultures Research Center and the Questes association.
