Valentina Kalashnik

Valentina Kalashnik serves as a Piano Tutor in the Music Department at the School of Languages, Arts and Societies, University of Sheffield, teaching undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students while conducting master-classes for the Lindsays and Friends Series and Sheffield Piano Club.

Her educational foundation includes:

• Kiev specialist music school
• State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Kiev (MA(Hon) in concert piano and piano tutoring, 1979)

Specializing in Piano Performance and Music Education, Kalashnik focuses on classical repertoire interpretation and historical performance practices. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes technical mastery and stylistic authenticity, reflected in her students' competition successes across international venues.

Notable student achievements include:

• Victor Hsu: Taiwan piano competition winner (2012)
• Peter Marshall Russel: Sheffield University final year recital prize (2014)
• Jonathan Cornish: Sir Thomas Beecham scholarship recipient (2015)
