Valentina Carla Re is a Full Professor at Link Campus University in Rome, specializing in History of Cinema and Theory and Technique of Digital Media. She holds a PhD in Theatre and Cinema Studies from the University of Bologna (2005) and previously served as a researcher at Ca' Foscari University in Venice (2009–2014). Her interdisciplinary research focuses on literary and cinema theory, transmedia storytelling between cinema and television, and the Italian/European audiovisual industry.
- Current Roles:
- PI of the PRIN project Atlante del giallo (2022–2025), analyzing crime narratives and popular culture in Italy.
- Co-coordinator of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Chair project Ciak-EU! (2022–2025), exploring European identity through films.
- WP Leader in the CERV project GEMINI (2023–2025), addressing gender equality via media studies.
She has led dissemination efforts in the Horizon 2020-funded DETECT project (2018–2021), examining transcultural identities in crime narratives. Editor of Cinéma & Cie and the Narrazioni seriali series, she also serves on academic journal committees like Cinergie and Fata Morgana Web.
Her over 70 articles and 6 authored/edited books include Peripheral Locations in European TV Crime Series (2023) and We Like Beautiful Women (2021), reflecting her focus on gender, media culture, and transnational narratives. Office hours are held post-classes or by email arrangement.
