Valentin Gloor

Valentin Gloor is the Dean of the Lucerne School of Music at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. He holds a PhD in Artistic Research from the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz (2013). His career includes roles as Doctoral Researcher, Research Fellow, and Associate Researcher at the Orpheus Instituut Gent, as well as leadership positions at institutions like the Konservatorium Winterthur and the Kalaidos Fachhochschule Schweiz. He actively contributed to music education policy through roles in the VZM and VMS associations.

• Education: Singing studies (pedagogical and artistic) at MusikHochschule Winterthur-Zürich and Universität für Musik Graz.

His research interests focus on artistic research methodologies, music pedagogy, and interdisciplinary projects involving technology and folk music. Notable projects include 'Kunstkompetenzen P-11 MER' exploring music competencies and 'Volksmusik-KI' integrating AI with Alpine music traditions. He maintains a dual role as performer and educator, having led choirs and taught vocal performance.

Leadership experience includes management training and strategic roles in Swiss music education institutions. His work bridges artistic practice with pedagogical innovation, emphasizing collaboration through initiatives like the 'Klangtürme' project.
