Dr Vahri McKenzie is a Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Arts (Arts and Cultural Management) at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Edith Cowan University. She holds a PhD (Edith Cowan University, 2008) and a First Class Honours in English (University of Western Australia, 2004). Her research focuses on artistic methodologies, contemporary performance, and creative collaborations. She is an affiliate member of the Centre for People, Place & Planet.

Research Interests: Artistic research design, relational creative practices, performance art, transdisciplinary collaboration, and artistic responses to science/technology. Her work explores embodied knowledge, memory, and sustainability through projects like RIPAIRIAN (2024), Underscore Alchemy (2013-2014), and With a Bullet (2017).
Awards:
- 2018: Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Award for Engagement in Research
- 2016: Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Award for Engagement in Learning and Teaching
Grants: Lead researcher for projects such as Social Fabric: Cultural Equity Project (Healthway, 2025-2026) and The Other Writing Group (ECU, 2016-2017). Supervised multiple PhDs on topics like Contemporary Dance in WA and Developmental Drama-Based Pedagogies.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with institutions like Midland Junction Arts Centre and Bunbury Regional Art Galleries. Leads transdisciplinary residencies and public art initiatives.
