Vahid Parvaresh is an Associate Professor of Linguistics and Deputy Head of School for Humanities and Social Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), located in Cambridge. He leads the BA (Hons) English Language and Linguistics program and is affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences. His expertise spans language and linguistics, with a focus on pragmatics, (im)politeness, and language aggression.

Research Interests: Vahid explores pragmatics, particularly the interactional and social uses of language. Key areas include vague language, pragmatic particles, (im)politeness, language aggression, and globalization’s impact on communication. His work analyzes how language shapes and reflects cultural and moral contexts, emphasizing its role in daily and conflictual interactions.
PhD Supervision: Vahid currently supervises four PhD projects focusing on topics like incivility in Omani society, conflictual interactions in digital communication, and intercultural competence among Indonesian postgraduate students in the UK.
Editorial Roles: He is Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, serves on the editorial boards of Bibliography of Pragmatics and Contrastive Pragmatics, and contributes to the International Pragmatics Association.
