Professor Uvanney Maylor is a Professor of Education at the University of Bedfordshire, affiliated with the School of Education. She holds roles in the Institute for Research in Education and serves on prestigious panels including UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Research Panel College and the European Science Foundation. Her work focuses on educational equity, race, and social justice, particularly examining how 'race', ethnicity, and culture impact educational practices and marginalized groups. She has led research on Black and minority ethnic student/teacher experiences, antiracist pedagogy, and teacher education diversity.
Research interests include: educational policy analysis, intersectionality in education, and institutional racism. She has contributed to over a dozen peer-reviewed publications since 2010, focusing on topics like BME teacher recruitment, Black male student achievement, and decolonizing higher education. Awards include Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (2022).
Current projects involve collaborations with the Tate Gallery to increase Global Majority teacher participation. She sits on editorial boards for the British Journal of Educational Studies and Educational Review. Past roles include Director of Multiverse (teacher education network) and Reader in Education at London Metropolitan University.
