Usha Ramanathan is a full-time Professor at the College of Business Administration, University of Sharjah (UAE), and a Visiting Professor at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University (UK). She holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham, alongside MSc and MBA qualifications, and has taught at universities across India, Oman, the UK, and the UAE.

Research Focus: Usha’s work bridges quantitative analytics with sustainability, centering on collaborative supply chain strategies, circular economy practices, green performance, e-commerce logistics, IoT integration, and Artificial Intelligence in waste reduction. She employs methodologies like Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), simulation, and case studies to explore themes such as RFID technology diffusion, Big Data applications, and the role of stakeholder collaboration in SMEs.
Scientific Contributions: Her research has secured funding from the British Council, British Academy, Interreg North-West Europe, and GCRF NTU, with projects like REAMIT and smart farming initiatives. She has received Highly Commended Awards from the Emerald Literati Network in 2012 and 2018.
Collaborations and Recognition: Usha serves as Associate Editor for Benchmarking: An International Journal and on the Editorial Review Board of the International Journal of Operations and Production Management. She is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Teaching and Leadership: She has supervised PhD and DBA students, emphasizing hands-on data analytics training, and has led Executive MBA programs. Her academic roles span from Teaching Assistant at the University of Nottingham to Senior Lecturer at UK and Middle Eastern institutions prior to her current positions.
