Usama Rahman is a Research Fellow at the Queen Mary University of London, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the Centre for Bone and Joint Health. He is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, with a focus on integrating public health principles into surgical practice.

His research explores the use of routine health data to enhance surgical decision-making and policy design, with a particular emphasis on global determinants of health and the epidemiology of road traffic collisions. He has contributed to clinical trials such as the Patellar Instability: Physiotherapy or Surgery feasibility RCT, ExACT trial, and START:REACTS trial, investigating novel orthopaedic implants.
Scientific awards include prestigious NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship and Academic Foundation Programme funding. He co-led the ARTHUR study, securing nearly £100,000 to address avoidable readmissions for neck-of-femur fractures, and designed its Patient-Public Involvement (PPI) framework.
