Usama Bilal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health, and Co-Director of the Urban Health Collaborative and the Climate Change and Urban Health Research Center. He holds an MD from the University of Oviedo, a PhD in Cardiovascular Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and an MPH from the Universidad de Alcala. His research focuses on macrosocial determinants of health, including urban health inequities in Latin American cities (via the SALURBAL project), climate change impacts on urban health, and policy interventions. Bilal has received prestigious awards such as the NIH Director’s Early Independence Award (2018) and the Drexel Provost Early Career Award (2024).

Research Interests: Bilal’s work examines health disparities in urban settings, spatial epidemiology, and complex systems approaches to urban health challenges.
