Prof. Dr. Ursula Schumacher is a Professor of Dogmatics at the Faculty of Theology, University of Lucerne, appointed in August 2022. Her academic journey includes previous positions as Professor of Catholic Theology and Religious Education at Karlsruhe University of Education (2018–2022), where she served as Deputy Director, and lectureships at the University of Freiburg. She holds a doctorate in Catholic Theology from the University of Augsburg and diplomas in theology and education from Ruhr University Bochum.
Her research focuses on systematic theology, dogmatics, religious education, and interfaith dialogue, with particular emphasis on theological grace concepts and rationality in religious discourse. She has published major works on 20th-century grace theology and interreligious dialogue frameworks.
