Unn-Britt Johansson is a Professor and Dean of Education at Sophiahemmet University, specializing in Nursing Science. She holds a doctorate from Karolinska Institutet (2000) and has been a registered nurse since 1989. Her research focuses on diabetes care, health-promoting interventions, and patient-reported outcomes, with emphasis on improving quality of life for individuals with chronic conditions.
Key research projects include the Sophia Step Study (lifestyle interventions for diabetes prevention) and collaborations with the National Diabetes Registry to develop patient-focused questionnaires. She leads the Prevention and Health Promotion research group and supervises doctoral students in nursing science. Additionally, she serves on national and international committees, including the Swedish Diabetes Foundation’s Scientific Council and the International Diabetes Federation’s Diabetes Education Consultative Section (DECS).
Her work emphasizes patient-centered care, particularly addressing psychological factors like fear of hypoglycemia in type 1 diabetes. She has held roles as a scientific expert for the Swedish National Board for Medical Evaluation (SBU) and the National Board of Health and Welfare.
