Maria Kumlin is a Professor and affiliated researcher at Sophiahemmet University’s Department of Health Promotion Science. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Stockholm University and completed a research program at Karolinska Institutet. Her research focuses on inflammatory diseases, particularly identifying measurable biomarkers in patient samples (e.g., blood, urine, saliva) to improve diagnostic and prognostic capabilities. She leads Sophiahemmet’s research laboratory, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach combining medical and nursing research to enhance understanding of patient health and treatment effects.
