Un-Jung Kim

Dr. Un-Jung Kim is an Assistant Professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences at The University of Texas at Arlington. She holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in environmental engineering from Pusan National University, South Korea. Her research focuses on environmental chemicals and persistent toxic substances, including novel sampling/analytical methods, monitoring contaminants in environmental compartments, and exposure pathways. She has held roles at the Korea Institute of Toxicology and Wadsworth Center, NYSDOH. Dr. Kim has received awards such as the NIH HHEAR Honorable recognition (2020) and the Korean Society of Environmental Health’s Best Poster Award (2018).

Her educational background includes:

• B.S. in Urban Engineering (Pusan National University, 2009)
• B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (Pusan National University, 2011-2014)

Research Interests:

• Development of analytical methods for environmental contaminants
• Monitoring of priority pollutants in human, wildlife, and consumer products
• Risk assessment of chemicals on human health and ecosystems

Teaching: She instructs courses on environmental regulation, analytical chemistry, and pollution methodology. Recent courses include EVSE 6697 (Research in Environmental & Earth Sciences) and ENVR 2314 (The Environment and Health).
