Umar Farooq

Dr. Umar Farooq is a Lecturer in Business Analytics at Coventry University's CBL School of Management. He holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Dongguk University (South Korea) and is a Fellow/Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA/SFHEA). Previously, he was Assistant Professor at GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences (Pakistan) and Research Assistant at Dongguk University.

His research integrates:

• IoT-enabled supply chain solutions
• Machine learning for consumer behavior analysis
• RFID-based traceability systems
• Operational efficiency modeling

Publications focus on practical applications of data science, including retail analytics using RFID tracking, health monitoring systems, and smart building technologies. Recent work demonstrates strong emphasis on real-time data processing and predictive modeling.

He actively collaborates on international projects developing sensor-based monitoring systems, with publications in Information and Indonesian Journal of Electrical Engineering. His industry-informed approach bridges technical engineering concepts with business decision-making frameworks.
