Ulrika Maude is a Professor of Modern Literature at the University of Bristol and directs the Centre for Health, Humanities, and Science. Her research bridges literature, medicine, and philosophy, focusing on modernist texts, bodily perception, and interdisciplinary medical humanities.
Her work includes authoring Beckett, Technology and the Body and Samuel Beckett and Medicine, co-editing key companions on the body in literature and modernist studies, and contributing to editorial boards such as the Journal of Beckett Studies. She specializes in exploring connections between literature, science, and embodied experience, with a particular emphasis on Samuel Beckett's oeuvre.
In her role at Bristol, she mentors PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, advancing methodologies in narrative medicine and graphic medicine through editorial leadership. She is currently involved in editing Key Concepts in Medical Humanities, a collection addressing themes like 'Health,' 'Illness,' and 'Dying.'
