Ulrich Weidmann

Ulrich Weidmann has been a Full Professor of Transport Systems at ETH Zurich since 2004, concurrently serving as Vice President for Personnel and Resources since 2016. He is affiliated with the Institute for Transport Planning and Systems within the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering.

His research examines four key areas:

• Holistic assessment of passenger transport systems
• Integration of rail freight into logistics chains
• Performance optimization and network stability
• Cost-efficient railway infrastructure development

He also contributes to transport policy reforms and liberalization initiatives.

Weidmann holds several influential positions including membership in scientific and governmental advisory boards, representation of Switzerland in the EU Transport Advisory Group, and board memberships in railway technology and transport operations companies.
