Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Kunze is a Senior Professor and Head of the Materials and Nanoelectronics Research Group at Ruhr University Bochum's Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. His career includes professorships at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Technical University of Braunschweig, with habilitation and doctorate in semiconductor physics and electrical engineering. He has held leadership roles, including Vice-Rector and Dean, and is a member of prestigious academies like the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Research focuses on nanoelectronics, semiconductor nanostructures, and quantum phenomena, utilizing materials like Si/SiGe, GaAs/AlGaAs, and graphene. Key areas include ballistic transport, single-electron effects, and device fabrication under extreme conditions. He has contributed to over 150 publications and held various committee roles, emphasizing academic service and interdisciplinary collaboration.
His educational background includes a degree from TU Braunschweig, alongside scholarships from the Studienstiftung. Current research involves advanced nanoelectronic devices and terahertz technologies, reflecting his commitment to pushing boundaries in materials science and applied physics.
