Ulf Stridbeck is an Emeritus Professor of Law at the University of Oslo, specializing in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, and interdisciplinary studies such as Law & Psychology. Since 1997, he held the Professor of Law position and was Head of the Department of Law from 2014 to 2017. He transitioned to Emeritus status in 2020.
Education: He earned a Juris Candidatus (1981) and a BA in Sociology (1981) from Lund University and the University of Gothenburg, respectively. He completed his Juris Doctor (LL.D) at Lund University in 1992.
Research focuses on wrongful convictions, legal safeguards, forensic psychiatry, and judicial procedures. He has authored numerous articles and books, including works on Norwegian legal reforms and comparative studies of wrongful convictions. Stridbeck serves as Editor-in-Chief of Tidsskrift for Strafferett and contributes to The International Wrongful Convictions Blog. He has held editorial roles in Nordic legal journals and is a member of the Nordic Network for Law & Psychology.
His publications analyze topics like coerced confessions, medical evidence in child abuse cases, and compensation for wrongful convictions. Recent work emphasizes judicial integrity and systemic reforms in criminal justice.
