Udo Gleim

Udo Gleim serves as Professor of Architectural History and Design at the Faculty of Architecture, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) since 2017. His institutional roles include Dean of Studies, Liaison Professor, and Evaluation Officer. He actively participates in university governance through the Departmental Council, Central Study Commission, and chairs the Examination Board for University Access for Professionally Qualified Students in Architecture and Construction for the State of Hesse.

Professor Gleim specializes in architectural history and monument preservation, with research focusing on 19th-20th century European architecture and urban planning within societal transformation contexts. His work examines the German Werkbund history, International Building Exhibitions, and the legacy of architect Ernst Neufert. His teaching emphasizes deformation-appropriate measurement of historic building fabric and heritage-compliant restoration techniques.

His recent academic service includes involvement with the BDA Student Prize 2022 recognitions. Current teaching activities for Winter Semester 2023-24 cover Architectural History 1, Design and Planning 1, and specialized courses in monument preservation.
