Dr. U-Ser JENG is a Professor jointly appointed at the Department of Chemical Engineering, National Tsing Hua University, and the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) in Taiwan. His current roles include TLS 23A SAXS/WAXS and TPS13A BioSAXS beamline spokesperson, Scientific Research Division head at NSRRC, and Co-editor of the J. Synchrotron Radiation.
Education: Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Rhode Island, USA (1990–1996).
Research focuses on developing synchrotron-based scattering methodologies, including SAXS/WAXS. Key interests include biomolecular solution structures, hierarchical assemblies, polymer crystallization, and functional thin films. His work bridges soft matter physics, materials science, and biophysics.
Professional activities include serving on the MoST Physics Proposal Review Committee (2014–2016) and chairing the IUCr SAS Commission (2016–2020). He leads advanced instrumentation initiatives for precision health applications.
