His work focuses on educational philosophy, critical theory, and phenomenological research methods, with an emphasis on reimagining educational paradigms beyond outcome-based learning.
He is the author of multiple influential books, including Inoperative Learning (2017), Studious Drift (2022), and Educational Potentialities (2023), which challenge conventional notions of learning and growth in education. His research often intersects with aesthetics, continental philosophy, and antifascist pedagogy, as seen in his exploration of Walter Benjamin's theories in childhood art education.
Dr. Lewis collaborates with institutions like the Jo Ann (Jody) & Dr. Charles O. Onstead Institute for Education in the Visual Arts & Design through projects such as the Studio-D Project. His teaching includes courses on dialogue in the arts, educational philosophy, and qualitative research methods.
