Tyree Daye is Assistant Professor in the Department of English at UNC Chapel Hill. A poet from Youngsville, North Carolina, he explores African American experiences through lyrical narratives. His collections River Hymns (APR/Honickman Prize winner) and Cardinal examine Southern landscapes and personal heritage.
His research focuses on contemporary poetry forms, the intersection of oral traditions and written literature, and representations of regional identity in American letters.

He teaches creative writing workshops and literature courses focused on 20th-century American poetry.
