Boston Universityمعرفی
Tyler K. Perrachione is an Assistant Professor in the College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College at Boston University. He directs the Communication Neuroscience Research Laboratory, focusing on developmental disorders of language and reading, neural plasticity in auditory processing, and speech perception mechanisms.
- Ph.D., Neuroscience – Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- M.A., Linguistics – Northwestern University
- B.A., Linguistics and Cognitive Science – Northwestern University
Dr. Perrachione's research explores how atypical neural adaptation impacts conditions like dyslexia and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with a focus on cortical systems for language, working memory, and voice recognition. His work also investigates speech motor learning and the role of noninvasive brain stimulation in enhancing language acquisition.
Recent publications highlight trends in auditory neuroscience, including studies on white matter organization in ASD, dual-task interference in speech processing, and the limitations of musical training in enhancing auditory neural coding. His lab employs multimodal techniques such as fMRI, EEG, and pupillometry to examine speech perception and neural plasticity.
- NARSAD Young Investigator Award (2016)
- NIH R03 DC014045 Grant (2015–2018)
- Peter Paul Career Development Professorship (2013)
- Walle Nauta Awards for Teaching (2012, 2011)
- Angus McDonald Award (2010)
- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (2008–2011)
Dr. Perrachione teaches courses such as "Reading, Language, and the Brain" and "Applied Speech Science" at Boston University. His research has been presented at major conferences, including the Acoustical Society of America and Organization for Human Brain Mapping. The Communication Neuroscience Research Laboratory he leads bridges clinical and cognitive neuroscience to address speech and language disorders.
