Dr. Tushar Sen is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Curtin University's WASM School of Minerals, Energy & Chemical Engineering. He has held progressively senior academic roles since 2008, including Lecturer (2008-2011), Senior Lecturer (2011-2015), and Associate Professor (2015-present). He also served as Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (2006-2007) and held multiple faculty positions at India's National Institute of Technology Rourkela (1991-2005).
Dr. Sen holds a B.Sc. (Hons) from Calcutta, M.Ch.E. from Jadavpur University, and a PhD from IIT Bombay. His research focuses on wastewater treatment, adsorption science, nanomaterials, anaerobic digestion, and colloid science. He has authored over 140 peer-reviewed papers, edited three books, and maintains editorial roles in Adsorption Science & Technology and Desalination & Water Treatment.
His work emphasizes sustainable environmental solutions, with notable contributions to biochar applications, sludge dewatering optimization, and struvite control. Awards include the Shah-Schulman PhD Thesis Award (2001), Sir Ganga Ram Memorial Prize (2009, 2011), and multiple international fellowships.
Teaching responsibilities include advanced chemical engineering courses like Transport Phenomena, Process Instrumentation, and Separation Processes. He actively supervises research students and collaborates internationally on projects involving Japan, Malaysia, and the U.S.
