Tulika Gadakari is the Curriculum Lead for Architecture at Coventry University's School of Arts & Creative Industries. She holds a PhD in Building Intelligence and Sustainability Studies from the University of Wolverhampton (2014), following a Master’s in Sustainable Architecture from the University of Sheffield (2010) and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from India (2008). Her research focuses on intelligent building technologies, age-friendly design, and sustainable architecture to promote aging-in-place and socially sustainable spaces.
Her work includes the €1M ESRC-funded ODESSA project, collaborating with universities in China and France to design housing solutions for elderly populations. She has taught at multiple UK institutions and held roles as a research project manager and bid developer. Tulika’s research spans inclusive design, energy performance, and building rating systems, with a global focus on socio-cultural impacts of architectural interventions.
Research Trends: Her publications emphasize cross-disciplinary approaches to aging-in-place, integrating technology (e.g., assistive devices) with architectural design. Recent work highlights China’s aging population challenges and housing policies, while earlier studies explored ontology development for smart buildings.
