Truzaar Dordi is a Lecturer in Sustainability Management at the University of York, UK, with a dual appointment as Program Lead for the MSc in Sustainable Business, Environment, and Society. He also serves as Director of Partnerships and Engagement in the Department of Environment & Geography. His academic background includes a PhD in Sustainability Management from the University of Waterloo, Canada, preceded by an MES (2014–2016) and a BA (Honours) in Geography and Environmental Management (2009–2014).
Truzaar’s research focuses on the intersection of climate finance, energy policy, and sustainability transitions. He explores how capital markets, equity ownership, and policy instruments drive low-carbon economic transformations. Specific areas include fossil fuel divestment movements, stranded asset risks, and the role of financial actors in accelerating decarbonization. His work extends to urban food security and flood risk governance, analyzing policy responses and systemic vulnerabilities in these domains.
His research has been featured in transdisciplinary journals like Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions, Energy Research and Social Science, and Climatic Change. It has also reached public audiences via New Scientist, USA Today, and Carbon Brief. He received accolades such as the Corporate Knights '30 Under 30 Sustainability Leader' and 'Canadian Clean50 Emerging Sustainability Leader.'
In advising and grants, Truzaar held the Aspiration 2030 Postdoctoral Fellowship (2022–2023) at the University of Victoria. He previously served as Vice President of the Canadian Society for Ecological Economics and contributed to the University of Waterloo’s Responsible Investing Advisory Group. His teaching includes modules on Sustainable Business, Change Management, and Innovation.
